Annette joined the BLINC Lab in 2022 as a summer student. Currently she is pursuing an M.Sc. in Rehabilitation Science under the supervision of Dr. Patrick Pilarski. Throughout her time at U of A, she has completed four research positions providing her a diverse range of experiences that led her to explore further into biomedical engineering. In these positions, she explored wearable sensors for workplace risk assessment, vibration mitigation in surgical robots, bone anchored implants, and even the thermal performance of building materials.
Currently, she is optimizing the design of the HANDi Hand in order to implement new and improved technology. In the future, she strives to give those with upper limb amputations the opportunity to play instruments and create art.
Outside of the lab, Annette enjoys playing the piano and guitar, making paper models, badminton, pickleball, bouldering, and cycling.
