Jasper Eng (M.Sc. Student)

Jasper started with the BLINC Lab in the summer of 2024 as a summer student. He is now a Master’s student in the Department of Computing Science, under the supervision of Dr. Patrick Pilarski. During his Bachelors of Science with Specialization in Computing Science Jasper also completed a research position where he helped develop a data collection protocol for myoelectric prosthetic limb control. After completing his degree Jasper worked at PCL with their data science team to help integrate machine learning solutions into their workflows.

Jasper’s research is centered around developing a deeper understanding of how Dendritic Gated Networks handle contextually varied data. With a focus on how these networks can be extended to leverage modern architectures that are better suited for myoelectric control, such as recurrence.

When Jasper is not in the Lab he enjoys spending time hiking, skiing, or really doing anything that gets him moving outdoors. When the weather is less favourable to outdoor activities Jasper can be found dancing, and playing basketball.
