Alexander Nichols (B.Sc. Student)

Alexander (a.k.a Xander) is an undergraduate student currently pursuing his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering with a Biomedical Option. In his second year, Xander designed an adaptor capable of joining a myoelectric armband sensor to the VIVE tracker, which incorporates computer-aided design models of current robotic hands. This adapter led into his current co-op placement at the BLINC lab where his project is to model, adapt, and import robotic hands in a virtual reality environment.

Xander’s goal is to continue his studies in biomedical engineering with the goal of developing new tools and techniques to help patients play sports again.

Outside of school, Xander competes in ultimate frisbee and disc golf, and loves running, biking, and adventuring outdoors.
